Come join me for The Color Run again this year!!  If you know me…then you know that I’m a HUGE fan of The Color Run and have run in many over the years!  This race NEVER lets me down and always provides me with an AMAZING TIME!!!

I’m never disappointed on race day when The Color Run is involved 🙂

Let’s start with what we already know about The Color Run

  • It’s known as the Happiest 5K on the planet (and I agree…Hello!!)
  • It’s a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality (Yes…you can wear that unicorn outfit if you want!)
  • It is now considered the single largest event series in the world since their debut – they hosted more than 300 events in 50+ countries in 2014. (The Color Run thanks each and every one of you that made that possible!)

This year though…we are going to SHINE!!!  The Color Run is introducing a few new FUN things this year to help us do just that!

This year EVERYONE in 2015 will be receiving their very own LIMITED EDITION Shine Tour Participant Kit!  This AMAZING kit includes:

  • Custom Race Tee
  • Gold Finisher’s Medal (for all us BLING lover’s)
  • Tricolor headband w/silver stiching
  • NEW Shine packet (in all it’s glittery-ness)
  • Shiny Tatoos (don’t worry mom…they come off!!)

And that’s not all!  The Color Run is also blinging out the 5K course and finish festival also!  There will be an exciting Sparkle Zone along the route and don’t forget the awesome photo ops (say Cheese!).  And to finish it off, get ready for massive clouds of color and shimmer as well as confetti cannons!

What better way to start your day than to get up…throw on some white clothes…and hit the streets running in The Color Run!!  I’m sure most of you have heard of this HIGH ENERGY, COLOR-FILLED race but if you haven’t…allow me to tell you a little bit about it!

First off, let me say that I have run this race twice now and loved, loved, loved every minute of both!  The energy from all the participants is like no other!  The Color Run was founded in January of 2012 as a way to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”.   And let me tell you…they have nailed it right on the head!  Now the single largest event series in the United States, The Color Run has exploded since their debut event.  They have more than tripled their growth, hosting more than 170 events in 30+ countries in 2013. WOW!!!!

This year I’m super excited about the 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour!  It will be nothing short of awesome I’m sure!  With new t-shirts, new wristbands, new headbands and even a new sling bag for everyone that registers!!!!  You can’t beat that!!!  Check these awesome goodies!!

The coolest thing about this race is that it really isn’t about how fast you can run or if you can beat that PR from last month.  It is more about having a blast with your friends!  The race is un-timed which means you can just take your sweet time getting doused from head to toe in different colors.  In fact, there is really only two rules to this race:

  1. Wear white at the starting line
  2. Finish plastered in color!

Following this 5K, the fun will continue with an unforgettable Finish Festival. This larger than life party is equipped with music, dancing and massive color throws, which create millions of vivid color combinations. Seriously…this will be the best post-5k party on the planet!

Here are a few of my favorite pics from the two races that I was lucky enough to participate in!  I always have to take the obligatory picture in the post-race color throws!!!  Love the swirl of color surrounding us!

Half Training and I Run 4 Riley (IR4)

I’ve been slowly getting back to running after the holidays…and the wicked “sickness” that I caught from my kiddos or hubby or some giving person.  All I know is that it knocked me down for 4 days and it’s taken me at least two weeks to completely feel like myself.  I spent ALOT of time sleeping and laying in bed…I didn’t get to run…but I did crochet the heck out of some stuff.  Finished like three projects…including an awesome bag that I will probably keep for myself 😉

In regards to running, I have all kinds of fun stuff to tell you…let’s start off with my nifty new watch for the nerd inside me.  I got the newest Nike+ Sportwatch in this awesome neon yellow color! I LOVE it!!!!!  Check it out!

image

I love all the extra options that my old watch didn’t have such as GPS (powered by TomTom) and also the fact that it shows way more stats which is great!

My second bit of news is that I’ve recently started training…okay…I was actually supposed to start training on the 30th of December.  Because of said sickness mentioned above…it’s safe to say that it didn’t happen.  So two weeks late, I’m training and loving it.  Well, I’m not necessarily loving the aching hips and the exhaustion that comes with training but I’m loving the running.  Why am I training?  What am I training for?

I’m proud to say that I’ve signed up for the Relay and Run for 21 on March 23!  I’m super excited because this will be my first Half-Marathon that I’m running for my IR4 buddy Riley!  This race means something special to me because the race partially benefits the Down Syndrome Association of St. Louis and my Riley was blessed with Down Syndrome.

image

I can’t wait to share this whole experience with her…I just know that I will get to see lots of these smiles along the way…I thank her for her always being an inspiration to me!!  YOU ROCK RILEY!!

My third bit of news is that I completed the I Run 4 my Buddy! Virtual Race and will be taking our medals to the engraver to add the finishing touches this week!  I am super excited to send her medal to her!  She is going to absolutely love it!!

Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway for The Color Run!!!!  Woot Woot!!!

Weekend Recap: STL Rams, Training, & a Bridal Shower

Another weekend come and gone!  Man, this summer is flying by!  My kiddos even start school in about three weeks (my last one is starting kindergarten…sniff sniff…they are growing up toooo fast).

My first week of Half-Marathon training went off great and without a hitch.  My goal for the week consisted of the following:

Monday – 2 miles (ended up doing 2.23 miles)
TuesdayCross-Train I ended up running a bazillion errands and didn’t get to work out 😦
Wednesday – 2 miles (ended up doing 2.17 miles)
Thursday – 3 miles
FridayCross-Train (again with the dropping the ball on the cross-training)
Saturday3 miles (moved my long run to Sunday because of my last-minute plans to hang out with the St. Louis Rams 🙂  See story below)
SundayRest Day 4.05 miles
Total Miles = 10 miles 11.47 total!!!!!

On Saturday, in lieu of my long run, I went instead to the inaugural St. Louis Rams Ladies Football Camp.  I was lucky enough to be asked to go by my fellow friend/blogger Lindsay of ItzLinz.  Definitely go and check out her post of our fun-filled day!!

We were able to tour Rams Park where the Rams practice, got to check out their locker room plus their weight room (WOW!!! Jealous of them!!).

Representing #SweatPink in the St. Louis Rams weight room!

IMG_20130722_022936

I was totally drooling over these treadmills in their weight room! They were amazing!!

After the opening ceremonies, we spent some time warming-up and stretching on their outside practice field and meeting their adorable mascot Rampage!  Look how cute we are together!

IMG_20130720_012913

After the warm-up, we all headed indoors, broke up into groups and got a chance to see just what being a professional football entails.  Once inside, we participated in sessions led by some of the amazing players,  Title Boxing Club and Elite Football Academy.  There was some running, some jumping, some fancy footwork and some football throwing/catching!  It was a blast!  I will say though that I was mighty sore the next day and I completely blame Title Boxing Club for that with the workout we were tortured with given.  I just might have to go check them out because if I hurt this bad, then it must be good for me 😉

Me and St. Louis Rams Safety Matt Daniels

Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch that was provided by Subway, which I gladly scarfed down!  I was starving after all that!  We also all left there with an awesome St. Louis Rams’ shirt, hat and a bag full of goodies and info!  I must say that I had the best time!!  I also must thank Lindsay again for inviting me to this event.  I had a BLAST!!!

Afterwards, I went straight home, showered the sweat away and then laid on my bed for a good hour and a half.  I had to rest up, because my sister-in-law’s bridal shower was that evening.  Went, had great food, played silly games (even won one of them…Jackpot!) and got to visit with some of my hubby’s awesome family and their friends.  The bride-to-be was as beautiful as ever and full of smiles!

Sunday was spent running my long run!

Photo-Op before my long run :)

Stretching!! Can't forget that!!

Stretching!! Can’t forget that!!

The plan was to get in 4 miles which I did and felt great the whole time.  My legs did feel super tired afterwards to I headed over to Fleet Feet – St. Charles as soon as they opened and picked me up my very first pair of compression sleeves!  They are hot pink and awesome!  Put them on as soon as I got home and loved how they made my legs feel!  Will definitely be purchasing some more of these along with some compression socks!  I also had a Personal Rewards certificate (you earn 1 point for every dollar spent)  so I got $15.00 off my total bill which is super awesome!!!

Also don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a free entry in The Color Run – St. Louis.  Go here to find out details and to enter!!!!  There is also a coupon code for $5.00 off that is good for any of the locations for The Color Run

Question(s) of the day:

What football team do you root for?

What is your favorite game to play at a bridal shower?

What is your take on compression sleeves/socks?  Love or hate them?

Holy Heat & The Color Run *Giveaway*!!

Holy heat!!!!

This is how humid it felt this morning!

This is how humid it felt this morning!

It has been super hot and humid here in the Midwest which is the usual for this time of year!  It’s making it very difficult to get out and run….so much that I’ve moved my runs to the morning before work to avoid some of the blazing heat from the sun.  This has been a bit difficult for me because I usually can’t seem to get up out of bed before 6:45.  I’ve started setting my alarm for 4:45 and then finally roll out of bed at 5:15….let’s just say that getting up early is a work in progress 😉  This morning, I got up and got my 3 miles in and was super glad that I won’t have to try to accomplish that later today when its 125 degrees out (okay…I’m exhaggerating…it’s been in the low 100’s…high 90’s but it’s felt like 125 degrees).  It’s that dang humidity!

So now on to The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the planet.  This race is really a crazy and unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.  The best part is that there are only two rules!!! 1)  Wear white at the starting line and 2) finish plastered in color!

TCR_logo_s_wht_tri

The great thing about this race is that it really isn’t about how fast you can run or if you can beat that PR from last month.  It is more about having a blast with your friends and all the other colorific peeps out there!  The race is un-timed which means you can just take your sweet time getting doused from head to toe in different colors.  At the end, once you are anything but white, you can continue your fun at the finish line during the “Color Festival”.  Here you will find yourself being covered in more colored powder and dancing and just having an all-around blast!

Tis’ the season…..to RUN!!!

It’s that time of the year again when more races are starting to pop up everywhere!  There are so many choices….5K’s, 10K’s, Relay’s, Half & Full Marathons.  But my favorite ones are the fun runs!  You know what I’m talking about…the runs where you get to dress crazy…the one where you have stuff thrown at you while you run….the obstable course races…there are so many to choose from. 🙂

This year, there a ton of races that I want to participate in.  The Color Run, The Glo Run, The Electric Run, the Rock-n-Roll Marathon Series….the list goes on!!!

The race that I’m super excited about is The Graffiti Run.  It’s along the same lines as The Color Run, but just with a different name!  Same COLORIFIC fun!!!  Some of my co-workers and I started a team and are chomping at the bit for the day to get here.  I did a Color Run last year so I know just how much fun we are going to have.  Check out some of my team and I from The Color Run this past fall. (that is me on the far left in both pictures)

color run2    color run1

The rest of the girls that are signed up for The Graffiti Run with me have never experienced a race along these lines so I’m even excited about how much fun THEY are going to have also!  Be prepared to view tons of amazing fun pictures once race day gets here 🙂

Fun runs like these are always a great way to let loose with friends and just have fun.  No reason to rush….no time to beat….just fun and camaraderie with friends/family.  So here is my question to you.

Do you prefer fun runs over your normal everyday races?  Why?

What are some of your favorite runs?  What do you love about them?
