AMRAP Nutrition Logo-Grey

I was sent these amazing bars from AMRAP which stands for As Many Rounds As Possible!  First let’s get the details out of the way and then I will fill you in on my opinion!

First off…let’s check out their mission statement!  Just reading it makes me want to go out and FOR SURE take on the world and make positive changes along the way!

As Many Rounds As Possible (AMRAP) defines our philosophy. Through determination, intensity, and focus, we aim to inspire and empower our community to reach their full health and fitness potential. Join us and together we will change the world.

Ingredients are always an important factor for me when it comes to nutritional bars.  We all know that there are some out that are wolves in sheep clothing just gearing up to fill our bodies with ingredients that are anything but nutritional.  Not this company!!!

AMRAP creates food that is 100% Paleo, gluten-free, GMO-free, dairy-free, and unprocessed. Raw whole foods, like almond chunks, are a top priority in our bars because we know from experience it is clean fuel that feeds our bodies’ daily activity the best. Their bars have an optimal research-based combination of good proteins and carbs for well-rounded athletes. They are recommended for a meal supplement or replacement, and especially a pre or post-workout snack.

I received three different flavors from AMRAPCashew & VanillaFig & CacaoAlmond Honey.

Let’s just say that I was stoked about ALL the flavors because they all sounded AMAZING!!  I tried the Cashew & Vanilla first.  After one of my training runs, I ate it to refuel and it totally hit the spot!  Filled me up without making my stomach feel super full and heavy!  And the taste?!  Can you say DELIGHTFUL!!  It wasn’t too sweet and had a little bit of a salty taste from the cashews.  I even let my kiddos try a tiny bite of it and they loved it also.Cashew Vanilla

Next up, I gobbled up the Fig & Cacao prior to my workout one day.  I had weights and core that day and used this to prep me for the energy I was about to burn!   The flavor of this one was just as amazing.  It was a bit rich so I ate half before my workout and the other half after.Fig Cacao

I’ve not tried the Almond Honey flavor yet but I’m sure it’s just as amazing!  But hey…don’t take my word for it…go check it out yourself!  You can find tons of information on their site at:  www.amrapusa.com

Foodie Penpal May Reveal!!

What time is it? I can’t hear you!!! What time is it??!!

500x211xFPP-post1_jpg_pagespeed_ic_KYaFXoYVom

That’s right!! It’s Foodie Pen Pals May Reveal Day over at The Lean Green Bean!! I sent my package to Ashley at My Cats and I (Cooking) in Chi, so head on over there to see all the goodies I sent her and to also see what else she has been up to! She is in to healthy low-cal/low-fat foods like I am so she was so easy to buy for!

So…before I get to my reveal…let’s do a recap on the Foodie Pen Pal situation.

First….it’s always a blast!! Second….here’s the details! You receive a pen pal match on the 5th of each month, then you email your match to see what they love/hate (yours will do the same) and then mail out a box filled to the brim with foodie treats to your pen pal. You just have to do it by the 15th! On the last day of the month, everyone reveals what goodies they received. You get a different match each month so you are always getting an opportunity to meet new people, find new blogs and try foods that you may just not have available in your area (I have found that New Jersey has some yummy stuff that we don’t have here in Missouri).

My pen pal was Mary at 3D Dinners (my April & May Penpals both ended up being from New Jersey (weird J ). She is newly married (Congrats!!).  Also…head on over to her page and check it out!  Lots of great recipes!!  Here is what she got me:

Bob’s Red Mill Organic Polenta (a.k.a. corn grits): she said that this is one of her favorite side dishes. I have never tried this before but was excited to try it! I made just how she recommended. Made the polenta and then stirred in 1 cup of frozen corn and honey to taste…..OH…MY…GOODNESS!!! Delightful!! Really enjoyed it and can’t wait to make it again J Made for a great dinner side dish although I could have just eaten this and this alone.

Simply Organic Garlic Salt: She said that she doesn’t usually add salt to dishes but if she has to then she chooses garlic salt instead. This one is great because it’s organic and is also a mixture of sea salt and garlic which are, by far, two of my favorite things. I have been using this a lot! It’s amazing just sprinkled on my spinach salads that I bring for work.

IMG_20130531_082248

Aunt Gussie’s Spelt Oatmeal Cookies: Wasn’t sure I would like these at first because they are a crunchy cookie and I’m partial to the soft ones but after devouring about 6 in one sitting, I’ve changed my mind! For starters, they are sugar-free which is amazing in itself because they taste sooo good! And there are only a few ingredients…all of which are recognizable and readable 🙂  Find out here about Spelt (It is a great source of fiber with high water solubility. This allows its nutrients to be more easily absorbed than common wheat) and Maltitol (which is the all-natural sweetener that makes these cookies taste so good!). I’m getting a little sad that these are almost gone though….may have to do some investigating to see if I can find them around these parts.

IMG_20130531_082148

Indie Candy Sweet Heart Gummies: Okay…I’m not going to lie…I’m kind of a fruit snack/gummy connoisseur! I love them and have been known to eat 3-4 packs at a time (I know! I’m sooo bad!). These were nothing short of amazing! They were a Wild Cherry flavor and they did not disappoint. The thing I liked about them the most is that all the ingredients were recognizable and on the plus side, they are gluten-free and allergy-friendly. And EVEN BETTER…..NO ARTIFICIAL COLORS, FLAVORS OR PRESERVATIVES! Love that part!   Sorry…no picture here…they didn’t last long enough for a pic 🙂

Kind Bar: Okay…I’ve gone on record saying that these are, by far, one of my favorite snacks. This one didn’t last very long…I literally ate it as I looked through the rest of the box once I received it.  Yummmers!!!!

IMG_20130531_082057

Kind Grains: This was awesome to get because it was a sample size and it allowed me to try it out before purchasing a larger bag! Although…I should have known I would love it! I just love the KIND brand…everything I’ve had from them has been amazing…Keep up the good work KIND company 😉

IMG_20130531_082211

Mary also was kind enough to send me a recipe to try. She sent Chinese Spicy Chicken! I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to be this weekend. I’m even going to get to add some of my Simply Organic Garlic Salt to the recipe!! Double YAY!!

So that’s it! Those are my goodies! Mary did an amazing job picking stuff out for me! She did not disappoint!

Alright….now head on over to The Lean Green Bean and see what everyone else got in the goodie boxes and what the heck…go ahead and join up with us and see what all the fuss is about! I promise…you will have tons of fun and get some amazing snacks in the process!

Foodie Pen Pal: April Reveal!

The Lean Green Bean

Last week, I posted a picture of my box of goodies that I received from my Foodie Pen Pal Lindsay at Live. Love. Nutrition blog!  As you could tell, it was filled to the brim with some yummy treats for me to try.  Here it is again so you can see 🙂  This was my first month participating and I can tell already that I loved it and can’t wait till next month!  Such a fun concept!

IMG_20130425_104553

What IS Foodie Pen Pal?  Well…it’s just about the coolest idea ever!  I’ll tell you a little more about it after I show you the goods first.

First, I got these two amazing products from Mitica.  They are actually imported by a company called Forever Cheese.  One is called Spanish Cocktail and is a snack mix of dried corn kernel, fava beans, chickpeas & Largueta Almonds.  It also has vegetable oil, rice flour & sea salt for seasoning.  Oh man!!  Talk about the perfect salty snack!  Super crunchy and NOT too salty….just perfect 🙂  The other container has Carmelized Walnuts.  Lindsay warned me of their addictive nature and boy was she right.  They really are good all by themselves but they were also extremely good on a spinach salad that I threw together last week.  Check them out!

IMG_20130430_083629_1

The next thing I received was some Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips.  According to the package, they are gluten-free and free of the 8 most common allergens; including dairy, nuts & soy.  I love that the ingredient list is short and sweet!  Very simple!  It has evaporated cane juice, natural chocolate liquor (non-alcoholic) and non-dairy cocoa butter.  They are also made without casein, potato, sesame and sulfites.  That is some awesome stuff!!!  I haven’t used them yet but just might have to whip up some cookies soon….or I could sprinkle them on some chia pudding….oh decisions decisions!!

IMG_20130430_083717

Lindsay also sent me a bag of Nut Harvest Natural Lightly Roasted Almonds.  These are great for snacking at work which I do a lot of 😉  And that is exactly what I’m using them for.  There are bowls of chocolate and candy at my work so snacking on these helps me stay away from the front desk and the chocolate stash.  I am a total almond lover and these are sooo good!  I might even say that almonds are my favorite nut…well besides the nuts in my family…LOL  I liked these because they are just lightly salted.  Nothing overpowering which makes them great for eating by themselves but also amazing on a salad.

IMG_20130430_083806_1

My final goodies are one of my all-time favorite snacks right now!!  I even mentioned them last week in my blog.  It’s KIND bars!!!  I ended up receiving three different kinds, all of which I have never tried.  Woo HOO!!  I got Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan, Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, & Nut Delight.  I’ve only tried the Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan so far and I must say that it was pretty dang good!  The pecans were great.  I do not normally like dark chocolate but there was the perfect amount on this bar.  Not too much that it overpowered all the other flavors.  And the cinnamon was a nice compliment to the bar overall.  I will definitely be trying the other two very soon.

IMG_20130430_083526

So that’s my goodies!  Yummy huh?  So how can you get involved in all this fun?  Well let me tell you…..

Lots of Pics & #99 Workout

Okay….as promised….here are the pics of all my goodies I received in the last few days!  First off if my amazing headband from Sweaty Bands that I won over at the Travels with Mary blog.  I used it last night during my workout and it stayed on great!  Love the pattern also!

IMG_20130425_104707       IMG_20130425_104627

I also received the Girls4Sport halter top that I won over at Healthy Running Mama‘s blog.  It is so comfy.  I just tried it on…I didn’t actually wear it yet.  It was a little chilly yesterday.  A better review to follow.  Also…ignore that not so great picture (it’s really hard to take a picture of yourself sometimes 😉 )

IMG_20130425_104819

I also received my mystery Conscious Box!  With the coupon I found, I ended up getting my Conscious Box for $9.99….you can’t beat that!  There are some great samples in there that I can’t wait to try out.  I will be doing an actual review for Conscious Box soon so watch for it!

IMG_20130425_104750

I also received my box from my awesome box of goodies from my Foodie Pen Pal Lindsay!  It was filled with goodies that just look so yummy!!  More to come on what I exactly got soon.  I will say that I did try the Carmalized Walnuts and all I can say is WOW!!!!  And also to say that she must have been reading my mind because yesterday I posted about loving KIND bars and then when I opened my package last night after work, I had three new KIND bars to try!!!  JACKPOT!!

IMG_20130425_104553

So those are all my goodies!!!  I love all of them and can’t wait to let you know all about them!

Last night, I was going to run but after getting home, I decided that I really didn’t feel up to running.  I haven’t been able to eat very much the last couple of days because of my medicine but I did do a quick workout that I found on a friend’s blog.  It’s called the #99 Workout!  You should definitely head on over and check out this post and while you are at it, check out It’s Linz‘s blog!  She really has an amazing blog!  So fun and always filled with great information regarding healthy living!

Okay…I’m not going to lie…..I only did one rep of each exercise so maybe I should call it the #33 Workout 🙂  But like I said….I’m just not feeling 100% right now!  Will try it again tonight and try to get in 2 sets of each exercise.  Will let you know how that goes!

What kind of fun things have you won?

Have you tried the #99 Workout?  How did you fair?

Yummy goodness and Great Mail Day!

I haven’t posted in a bit but I had a hectic weekend and I’m just been feeling out of sorts due to some new medicine I’m on.  I will try to catch up on what I’ve missed.

This weekend I squeezed in some running and was able to log about 3.5 miles total which is less than I wanted to do but some is better than none 🙂  I did get to sneak out with my hubby for some “us” time (he is working out of town right now and so I only get to see him on the weekends 😦 ).  We went to Panera Bread Co. and for once I got something totally different.  I’m really bad about getting the same thing every time I go.  This time I got the Pick2 with the Thai Chopped Chicken Salad and the NEW Roasted Turkey, White Cheddar & Apple Panini!!  They were both delicious! And yes…I did take a bite of my salad before the picture….I just couldn’t wait!)

IMG_20130421_032122

All in all, my weekend was a little crazy but good overall.  Of course Monday, I started a medicine back up for my anxiety and lets just say that I’ve been out of sorts since then.  It usually takes about a week or two for my body to get used to it but in the mean time, I just feel like BLAH!!!!  Needless to say, no running the last two days and no working out. 😦  NOT COOL!  I’m feeling slightly better today and it’s not supposed to rain tonight so I’m going to try to run this evening after work….we will see.

On a better note, I hit the jackpot with awesome mail the last few days!!  I got all kinds of goodies…..I got my winning Sweaty Bands headband that I won on Travels with Mary‘s blog, I got my winning halter top from Girls4Sport that I won on Heathy Running Mama‘s blog, my mystery Conscious Box that was stuffed with awesome samples, and my Foodie Pen Pal box!!  IMG_20130424_124021

I will post more pictures of my actual goodies later….just wait to you see all this awesome stuff!

And speaking of AWESOME…..I had the most AWESOME snack the other day and I’m totally in love with it.  I tried the Kind Almond & Coconut bar and all I can say is WOW!!!  It was amazingly delicious!  These are great because every bar is made from all-natural ingredients that provide you with a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.  And it still tastes great!!  No fillers….no fake stuff….no GMO’s…just yummy goodness!  Check it out!

IMG_20130421_032044       IMG_20130421_031950

Look at all that wholesome goodness!!  They are great for snacking on and the KIND site states that eating two KIND bars a day helps to suppress your appetite and reduce overeating…which I totally agree on because this bar filled me up and tided me over until dinner.

What’s your go-to thing to get at Panera Bread?

What’s your favorite nutritional bar?

I’m an Ambassador!!!!

I found out recently that I was picked to be a part of the Kidz ZonePerfect Ambassador Program!  To say that I’m excited is putting it mildly!  I truly did not think that I would get picked to represent ZonePerfect but lo’ and behold, I WAS!!  Check out the part of the swag I received…..500 full-size nutrition bars to hand out for sample, an amazing insulated bag to carry my samples in, an awesome “KidzZone Perfect” t-shirt, and an amazing fleece jacket!!IMG_20130409_131722

For those not familiar with KidzZonePerfect bars, here is a little information about them.

  • ZonePerfect has recently introduced a new line of nutrition bars that are geared towards kids called Kidz Zone Perfect.
  • These bar were built and flavors decided upon with the help of parents and children at a “build-a-bar” development workshop.
  • Three flavors available:  Yellow Cupcake (yummy right?!), Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Caramel Crunch.
  • Each bar features 3 grams of fiber, 5 grams of protein and 23 vitamins and minerals and is only 140-150 calories per bar.
  • Kidz ZonePerfect nutrition bars are available at mass merchandisers, grocery stores & drug stores.  They can also can be ordered online at www.abbottstore.com.
  • Go here for a $1.00 coupon

Needless to say, I’m super excited to get started on spreading the word on these tasty bars.  I’ve tried them all and so have my kiddos and we all have our favorites.  We all love the Caramel Crunch bar….the one with the salty pretzels mixing with the sweet chocolate chips and caramel….DE-LISH!!!!

I also love the fact that they are not super high in calories and that my kids love them (even though they are healthy)….You can’t beat that!  My kids can be super picky sometimes and it’s always hard to find something that they like that I can still feel comfortable giving them.

I actually got to do my first sample distribution activity.  I was able to provide samples to my daughter’s Girl Scout troop and their mothers.  They loved tasting them and really enjoyed the Activity Booklets that came with the bars.  Check out how sweet these girls look while gobbling up these tasty treats!

And of course my favorite Girl Scout and I being fabulous for the camera 🙂

Has anyone been picked to be an ambassador?  How was your experience?

Has anyone tried the new Kidz ZonePerfect nutrition bars?  If so, what did you think about them?  Which one is your favorite?
